I slowly opened my eyes and there she was, to meet me on the other side with her smile. I took a very deep sigh and I smiled back. She asked me how I felt, I told her I felt a lot lighter. She said jokingly “that’s what they all say” and she said her motto was “I help people come out from the darkness into light”. I might be paraphrasing a lot of her words but that is what she said. It was an experience. An intense one. Physically I was tired. I wanted to sleep right after. It felt like a journey uphill, then slowly downhill but I was tired. Yet I physically felt lighter. My whole body felt lighter, my heart, my gut felt lighter. The heaviness that was in my chest area and gut when we started, was all gone. I couldn’t believe it. She then reached out for her glass of water, signaling that I should reach out for mine and she said “cheers?” I said “cheers”, then we sipped. We sipped, and in that quiet moment, I realized: something in me had truly shifted.

Things have never been the same since that day. Something in me shifted so profoundly that I can’t quite find the old version of myself anymore and truthfully, I don’t want to. I carry an unshakable sense of self-respect now, almost like a quiet shield that instantly recognises anything that might chip away at my worth. My boundaries have become sacred ground, and I guard them with a loving fierceness. I follow through on the promises I make to myself.

What amazes me most is that this spiritual teacher and I only worked on my childhood trauma, yet the healing didn’t stop there. It spilled, effortlessly, into every other wounded part of me, places I didn’t even realise still ached. I emerged feeling restored and renewed, walking with a calm and ease I have never known before. There is this inner knowing now, soft but certain, that I am guarded, guided, and wholly supported.

When I got home, something pulled me back to her page. I began reading other people’s reviews, something most people do before even deciding on such a journey, and I was floored. The sheer number of lives she has touched was overwhelming in the most beautiful way. Then I stumbled upon the science behind EFT tapping, and to my surprise, I realised I had known nothing about it despite considering myself deeply versed in both psychology and spirituality. It was like a secret door swinging open to an entirely new world.

And then, by chance, I found a YouTube video of her giving a speech in New York. Only then did it hit me that I had just spent intimate time with someone this remarkable, this well-known, this influential, and I had not even known it. In our first meeting, she was so grounded, so human, so humbly present, you would never imagine she was a global voice. I honour that level of humility.

Realising all this felt like waking up to the fact that I had been part of something extraordinary, something revolutionary, without even realising it in the moment. My hope is that her work finds its way into the hands and hearts of thousands more like me, those standing at the cliff’s edge, ready to give up, who just need one hand to pull them back into the light. And I pray God blesses her, protects her, and carries her to even greater heights.
