Emotional freedom technique (EFT), is an alternative Chinese healing treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure.
There is a natural flow of energy along pathways in the body - known as meridians. When energy flows freely through these meridians we feel well, when energy gets blocked it disrupts your energy flow.
By "tapping" on these meridians blocked energy is released allowing you to feel heal and whole again.
Similar to acupuncture, EFT uses meridian points to restore balance to your body’s energy.
Acupunture uses needles whereas EFT uses fingertips.
By stimulating the meridian points through EFT tapping you reduce the stress or negative emotion you feel, ultimately restoring balance to your energy.
Tapping can be used to in so many ways, here are just a few:
Amazing studies have been done, one of them a randomized controlled trial to study how tapping for one hour would impact the stress levels of 83 subjects.
To do this, they measured their level of cortisol, a hormone secreted by the body when it undergoes stress. 1 group had tapping done, 2nd group had talk therapy and 3rd group had no therapy Their findings?
They found there was 24 to 50 % reduction of cortisol in the Tapping group In comparison, there was no significant cortisol reduction in those who underwent an hour of traditional talk therapy and group that had no therapy.
